I’m so thrilled Silent Narratives, my shared exhibition with David Frazer and Sue Poggioli is now on at Queenscliff Gallery (QG).

If you’re not on my list or the QG list and wish to attend the QG Mingle, please contact me to get the details – it’s happening this weekend!

I’ve been anticipating this exhibition for months.

Although eager to exhibit, it was great to get the chance to revisit Italy earlier this year and relook at the Silent Narratives collection one final time before its debut to the world.

The works are very different from my previous works, so I’ve got mixed emotions —excitement and terror. But that’s usually how it goes for an artist. Every work always feels like a risk. And you have to accept that as there’s no other choice but to do the work you feel like doing.

Curating Silent Narratives from my QG director and curatorial position was fabulous. My works, together with David Frazer and Sue Poggioli’s, tell great stories individually, but the various media we each use; linocut, wood engraving, etching and painting add that little bit of crunch.

My works sit in the centre of QG between the two artists’ works, and my four stories are presented by a trio of works (two paintings and one etching) on each of the four centre partitions.

Silent Narratives is all about personal stories.

Making a conscious decision, I refrained from presenting any of the works on social media in the lead-up, and this made it all the more exciting through the hanging of the exhibition. Mental screengrabs didn’t strip the element of surprise.

Creating a body of work takes a lot of time. Dribbling works into a fast swiping social feed only works to reduce the value I believe. Social media serves the process of art best.

I’m glad to be presenting my exhibition of works as the doors open for Silent Narratives.
