    The current Queenscliff Gallery theme is figuring The current Queenscliff Gallery theme is figuring in the landscape and here is the figure - me, and the landscape - Cortona with elements of the place I see including the little lamp posts and window frame details… and… a suitcase but this suitcase is not mine. This suitcase, I believe, is my parents’ suitcase when they migrated to Australia. So, come on in to QG. There are many beautiful artworks to see on the theme of figuring the landscape. And, if you can’t acquire an artwork… well buy some wrapping paper!!! Ciao ciao!

I’m sure many of my kindred spirits would relate. After all we never make work for the gallery. We always make it for ourselves first and foremost. It’s the only way it can be good enough to live with someone else - often a stranger! So please buy my work… no wait don’t! Oh ok, do.. but not that one! 😂

    Questions questions always pondering my position a Questions questions always pondering my position and motivations - why do I love so many mediums? Why not reign myself in?     As an artist and gallery director, COVID taught me As an artist and gallery director, COVID taught me one thing (ok it taught me a few things) but it’s that you make the most of slumps by continuing to work. Slumps pass. Slumps are transitions. And, am I not an exhibiting artist? We’re in a retail transformation. It’s the best time to keep working in any way you can. It can get hard as artists are often inspired by their environment. So I take it one step at a time. I start. I start doing anything. Even if it’s standing in my studio pushing materials around. Or drawing… or relooking at my work. Yesterday, I completed some Italian editions and proofed a new one - Verona door! They’re works that sell well so I’ll need them. And it was an invigorating day for us both. #lifeofanartist

    I’m so happy to have the opportunity not only to e I’m so happy to have the opportunity not only to exhibit and present my impressionistic influence, but also to curate such a contemporary exhibition and collaborate with the Geelong Gallery. Although the Impressionists weren’t the first to head outdoors to create art, they are the group that created an official movement for capturing light and ordinary objects – not so ordinary were most of their scenes. But this movement, alongside the Byzantine period, is one of the two prominent concepts that form my love and art being. As a Director of a regional commercial gallery, I also feel a great sense of achievement for the Arts – especially in these turbulent times. There is no greater brief to a creative human than a challenge. And it’s really time to revisit, question, brainstorm, and test the industry as it exists, and bring it into a new age… just as the Impressionists did. Through collaboration and influence, together with the past and the new, this can be done. I hope you can visit. #artist #curator #gallerydirector #australianartist #australianartistabroad
