… and I’m participating, again!

This time with two posters I prepared for The Santorini Biennale of Arts, a fabulous competition calling for posters with the theme, Design A Wish for Greece. Sadly it was dumped without explanation (or refunds) and the lovely Vasy Petros coordinating the Antipodean Palette exhibition asked if I’d exhibit the prematurely retired entries.

The exhibition aims to support visual arts in the community and to foster a spirit of cooperation amongst artists from various disciplines.

Showcasing the works of 12 artists in a range of media such as painting, sculpture, photography, digital prints, computer art, collage and pyrography.

Artists include Thalia Andrews, Pavlos Andronikos, Agi Argyropoulos, Costa Athanassiou, Frixos Ioannides, Andriana Karamitros, Jenny Kontogiannis Dumont, Sofronis Michaelides, Vasy Petros, Mia Rappel and Tina Sideris.

This year we are privileged to have two distinguished guests launch the event, The Hon Heidi Victoria MP, Minister for the Arts and Anna Pappas, owner of Anna Pappas Gallery and President of the Australian Commercial Galleries Association (ACGA).  A musical interlude by Pavlos Andronikos, Irine Vela  and Stan Lilimbakis will also be included.

On Saturday 29th June 6.30pm, as part of the Antipodes Events Program, George Donikian will be guest speaker at the book launch of the Greek translation of‘Someone Else’s War’ –“Ο Πόλεμος της Όλγας”, by author and ABC radio journalist Phil Kafkaloudes.

On Sunday 30th June at 4pm, the GACLM will hold a bi-lingual poetry recital evening by well known poets from our community.

Art on display

Greece / Ελλαδα

A simple graphic showing my belief that Greece can rise from its fall, and indeed back to its great historic stature.

There Is A Way Out / Υπαρχει Εξοδοσ

Whilst I believe Greece is solely responsible for its current economic state, I have much hope there is a solution. I chose the ancient Greek meander symbol and made it a complex labyrinth, one that Greece needs to work its way out of. I wish for Greece to find the exit, it exists.
