In her most recent works, Soula Mantalvanos has shifted the stillness that comes with impacted health, surrounding her self-depicting mannequins instead with characteristics that reflect her ability and heritage.

In Soula’s depiction of Saint George, elements such as floor tiles from the Byzantine church of San Giorgio dei Greci in Venice, olive leaves, and gold leaf pay tribute to her family’s Byzantine history, their patron saint, St. George, and her uncle, who has spent the majority of his life on Mount Athos.
